TailsAI Incubation Milestone: Government Support via IIT Mandi iHub & Upcoming Play Store Launch

By Rishabh Bajaj, Founder of The Tail Tribe

After months of research, development, validation, iterations, and countless conversations with pet parents, veterinarians, and technology experts, I am excited to share that TailsAI is now preparing to go live on the Google Play Store. What started as a vision to make pet healthcare more accessible, intelligent, and proactive is now becoming a reality.

This milestone journey would not have been possible without the support of the IIT Mandi Technology Innovation Hub (iHub) and the HCi Foundation. Their commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through mentorship, incubation support, and grant assistance played a crucial role in helping us transform a conceptual idea into a fully deployable, secure product.

The Fragmented State of Pet Healthcare in India

India is experiencing an unprecedented pet ownership boom, with millions of families adopting dogs and cats. However, the ecosystem supporting these pets remains deeply fragmented. Unlike human healthcare, where digital records and standardized pricing are becoming the norm, pet care is largely offline, paper-dependent, and reactive.

Pet parents face multiple challenges:

  • Lost Records: Vaccination booklets and medical histories are maintained on paper cards. When a pet falls sick or needs emergency boarding, these files are often lost or unavailable.
  • Reactive Care: Without automated reminders or chronological trackers, routine check-ups, deworming, and critical vaccine boosters are routinely missed, leading to preventable, high-cost acute treatments.
  • Lack of Trust: Veterinarian availability, clinic pricing, and credentials are hard to verify, causing anxiety for pet parents during emergencies.

TailsAI was built to bridge these gaps by creating a lifetime health record system (the Clinical Passport) and connecting pet parents with verified vets, groomers, and trainers on a single, unified digital platform.

Incubation at IIT Mandi iHub & HCi Foundation

Developing a multi-sided marketplace that handles secure, offline-accessible health files, real-time consultation rooms, and high-precision billing required a strong technological foundation. This is where the IIT Mandi iHub and HCi Foundation stepped in.

Their structured incubation program provided us with the resources needed to build our platform:

  1. Grant Assistance: Financial support enabled us to conduct extensive beta testing and configure high-performance server logic.
  2. Mentorship: Regular design reviews helped refine our user journeys and ensure compliance with security and privacy laws.
  3. Ecosystem Access: Direct integration with academic researchers and technology veterans gave us access to talent and testing tools.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Somjit Amrit, CEO & Director, IIT Mandi Technology Innovation Hub. His extensive experience in building and scaling businesses across SaaS, IoT, Analytics, IT Services, and emerging technology sectors, combined with his belief that "Belief leads to behavior and behavior leads to business," continues to inspire young founders like us. His leadership in nurturing innovation ecosystems is helping create the next generation of technology-driven enterprises in India.

A special thank you to Abhinandan Sharma, who has been our point of contact throughout this journey. From navigating processes to providing timely guidance and support, he has consistently been there whenever we needed direction. His encouragement and commitment have made this journey significantly smoother.

Government Support Through Startup India

As a young founder, opportunities like these reinforce my belief that India is building one of the strongest innovation ecosystems in the world through Startup India. Government programs implemented via institutions like IIT Mandi iHub are not just funding startups; they are enabling founders to solve real-world problems through technology.

The grant assistance from the Government of India provided us with the runway to build and refine our codebase without compromising on quality or security. This public-private partnership is the fuel behind TailsAI’s rapid development.

Technical Innovations in TailsAI

TailsAI is not just another booking directory. We have engineered deep utility features designed specifically for the Indian market:

  • Offline-Resilient Clinical Passport: Pet parents can view local medical records, vaccine certificates, and allergies even without internet access—crucial when visiting remote clinics or during network outages.
  • Chronological Vaccine Matcher: The app dynamically calculates vaccine schedules based on the pet's age, breed, and historical doses, sending automated notifications ahead of time.
  • Flexible Payouts Engine: The backend enables custom commission structures for service providers and automated daily payouts to support micro-entrepreneurs.

Looking Ahead: Google Play Store Launch & Beyond

TailsAI is currently finishing its closed testing cycle on the Google Play Store (build 125, version 1.12.39). We are preparing to roll out the public version to pet parents in Delhi NCR first, followed by a nationwide expansion.

But our vision goes beyond dogs and cats. We believe the tech we built—specifically the digital health record and telemedicine triage tools—can create an impact across the world.

In our next phase, we are planning to uplift rural farmers by incorporating cattle health tracking into our application. By providing dairy farmers with a digital card to track cattle immunizations, breeding cycles, and veterinary consults, we aim to protect livestock, reduce disease outbreaks, and improve dairy yields.

Our goal remains simple yet ambitious: Build technology in India that can create impact across the world.
